SEEING IS BELIEVING: THE PRODCAST INVESTIGATION

Investigators: Melissa and Brent

The S.P.I.R.I.T. team was invited to investigate the home of the on the air producer of a popular Sacramento weekday morning FM radio talk show.

The morning radio team had talked several times on the air of how “Producer Brandon’s” home might have some paranormal activity, based on things he and his wife had recently experienced in their new home. The show’s main host and owner, Rob was, to say the least, skeptical as to the possibility of such things being real, but he nonetheless indulged Brandon’s concerns on the air, to the point of talking about the upcoming investigation, and even admitting that he was curious to hear the ultimate outcome.

Upon arriving at the home, we were greeted by Brandon and “Mrs. Brandon” and welcomed into their home. Brandon let us know (we were previously advised that this would be the case) that he was recording us for the entirety of the evening and anything he recorded was fair game to use on his weekly podcast, or “Prodcast” as he calls it, that he produces in conjunction with the radio show.

Before beginning her initial cold walkthrough, Melissa gained her customary nod of approval from the home’s cats and of course, the radio-famous “Walter the Dog.”

The Walkthrough

Melissa conducted an initial cold walkthrough of the home, using only her own intuitive perceptions to gather information. She initially indicated she felt the spirit of a man who would repeatedly walk by the foot of the bed in the back master bedroom, and she felt energy that she said felt human but negative with anger and sadness from the side room, which was being used as a home office. Melissa said she felt very stifled and lethargic in the back spare room, and she noted an energy shift at the threshold between the front living room (near the office door) and the hallway to the rest of the house.

Brandon and his wife validated these as hits. Brandon stated one of the main reasons for calling us in was that he felt he would repeatedly see a shadow-like figure move through the glass door and past the foot of the bed in the master bedroom. Mrs. Brandon verified that the back spare bedroom felt so stifling and heavy to her that she never started turning the room into her project room, which had been her original goal for the room.

Melissa also said she felt very serene in the front corner near the kitchen. Mrs. Brandon confirmed that one of their cats would consistently drag random objects from around the house into that corner, displaying “nesting” behavior.

The Chair

Melissa keyed in on a particular object in the side office that she felt was the source of the negativity and anxiety she felt emanating from that room. It was a used office chair that Brandon had recently brought home. The chair felt cold to the touch. Melissa felt the chair had absorbed a great deal of residual anger; I felt that the chair emanated a male energy of self-loathing.

Brandon validated that he hadn’t felt right in the side office since he had brought the chair home, and when working in there since bringing in the chair he would sometimes become agitated or find that he would doubt himself for no reason. He said projects in the office had stalled since bringing the chair in, and he didn’t like going in there more than necessary anymore. This is strange, since Brandon loves his work.

The Investigation

We did a second walkthrough using the K2, EDI, MEL-R.E.M., and Trifield meters. The chair in the side office set off the temperature alarm on the K2 and EDI meters, and gave off EMF (electro-magnetic field energy) hits on both meters. The chair seemed to have moving cold spots; the temperature of the chair was neither uniform nor ambient, something that had no logical explanation, since there was no vent above the chair.

There were no significant meter hits in either of the back bedrooms.

We decided to deploy the meters on the kitchen table near the “prayer spot,” as we dubbed the cat’s favorite corner. There was an air conditioning vent above the table, so the air conditioning to the home was shut off before we baselined all of the meters.

At this point, Melissa began to pick up on a second male energy in the house. She identified it as familial energy belonging to Mrs. Brandon. She said it felt ”like a Grandfather”, because he adored Mrs. Brandon when she was growing up, and would let her get away with things, the primary reason that Melissa sensed the energy as a Grandfather, since parents often tend to be stricter than grandparents.

At this point the cold temperature alarms on the R.E.M. Pod, the MEL R.E.M. and the K2 Meter all began to go off very loudly simultaneously (remember – the air conditioning was off – there were no ceiling fans, and the meters had all been baselined twice). The meters continued to chime loudly and in unison, and in varying tones, seemingly in response to Melissa’s impressions of the grandfatherly energy.

Melissa said she saw helicopters, a huge military presence, and she was in an Asian country. After zeroing in on it, Melissa decided she was seeing the grandfatherly energy as a soldier in the Vietnam War, at which point the meters began changing faster in pitch and tone, continuing to blare very loudly for no discernable reason. Mrs. Brandon confirmed that her father had been a decorated soldier in the Vietnam War. She also confirmed that her father looked old for his age, almost grandfatherly, in the last picture she had of him.

Melissa said she saw him in the war, and she saw a small, frightened Asian child.

The meters all fell suddenly silent, just as Mrs. Brandon said “Yeah, there were things about his service he would never talk about.”

“You hid them, didn’t you? You saved them. You were afraid what you did would be found out.” Melissa said.

The meters exploded in activity again.

Melissa saw him going back, away from the helicopter. She then lurched to one side from sudden strong knee pain.

“You went back for him, didn’t you? His leg was hurt and you went back to get him.”

The meters began going off wildly.

“Thank you for your service, Sir,” Melissa added.

Mrs. Brandon confirmed that her father would seldom talk about Vietnam, that he had received Two Bronze Stars for his service in the Vietnam War, but she never knew what they were for, as “he took those secrets to his grave.” Mrs. Brandon said that during her father’s military funeral, twelve uniformed servicemen were there to present honors and present her with her father’s flag. She never knew why he was buried with such honors.

When we all suggested we take a break, the meters all suddenly fell silent and remained silent.

The above described incident was all captured in high definition video and on separate audio recorders.

The SLS Footage

Next we deployed the SLS, or Structured Light Sensor Camera. The SLS Camera uses Microsoft Kinect technology to “map” human figures as stick figures. The technology was created to create a computer skeleton (stick figure) of a living person and send it into a video game, where the person’s movements and motions are then exactly duplicated in real time by a character the computer creates around the stick figure in the video game.

Following the 2012 film Paranormal Activity 4 in which the Kinect technology was accidentally used by one of the film’s characters to detect a spirit, the SLS camera was developed to determine whether the technology could actually be used to map a human-shaped figure that cannot not be seen in the spectrum of light visible to the human eye, namely, a ghost.

Successful tests showed, incredibly, that it absolutely could, and does.

Once the SLS camera became available commercially on a single custom order basis, paranormal teams around the world started using the technology to document astounding paranormal evidence.

We deployed the SLS Camera (using it in its handheld configuration) all around the home, including the side office. Nothing. We were about to move back to the kitchen where we had begun the SLS session when two full stick figures appeared on the device on the empty couch on the living room. As soon as we acknowledged them, one of the figures disappeared. We do not know who the second figure was, but we were able to determine that the remaining figure was in all probability the spirit of Mrs. Brandon’s deceased father.

At this time the meters on the kitchen table, still powered on but silent, again exploded in unison in cold temperature alarms. We asked the stick figure to wave to us if it was indeed the spirit of Mrs. Brandon’s father.

The figure clearly waved to us. We asked the figure to re-confirm that this was Mrs. Brandon’s father, and the figure waved again. Moreover, Mrs. Brandon confirmed that the figure appeared to be “lounging” on the couch in the exact posture, diagonally across the couch with one arm propped up on the armrest, that was her father’s typical way of lounging on a couch when he had it to himself. She further confirmed that the wave was characteristic of her father’s typical “non-chalant” and casual attitude.

The SLS Camera in this case provided astounding footage and arguably evidence of the afterlife. In conjunction with what happened next during our SB11 Spirit Box session, it gave Mrs. Brandon peace and additional closure concerning the passing of her father a decade earlier (the investigation took place exactly one week prior to the tenth anniversary of Mrs. Brandon’s father’s passing).

The next logical step in the investigation was to attempt to make contact with Mrs. Brandon’s father, and confirm that we were indeed in communication with him (because of the accuracy of the information Melissa had been able to empath, we were already nearly certain that this was who we were communicating with).

The SB11 Spirit Box is essentially two am/fm radios in one, designed to truncate or scan across the two sets of am or fm bands at intervals that are adjustable to between a quarter to 1/32 of a second, never locking on to any station for longer than the set interval.

Therefore, when the Spirit Box gives one-word answers, such answers may be deemed paranormal if they appear to be direct and intelligent specific answers to specific questions. Clear multi-word and whole-sentence responses should be impossible on the SB11 Spirit Box. When we get such responses, especially when they are intelligent answers, we pay special attention to them as possibly paranormal in nature.

As we began the SB11 Spirit Box session, we received a “Hello” response. When we asked who we were speaking to (“What’s your name?”) we received a Class A, very clear “Cliff.” Mrs. Brandon’s father’s name was Cliff, and the response was in his voice. Cliff also said “Hi” to Mrs. Brandon, and confirmed that he was watching over her.

We received several further responses, most of which were Class B (harder to hear and understand). Melissa thanked the entity for his service, and he responded in the same voice in which the “Cliff” response was in, “It was my job.”

Melissa thanked him, and closed the session.

At this point we sat down and talked about the evidence we had gathered during the evening. The unanimous consensus was that Mrs. Brandon’s father had come through, a week from the 10^th anniversary of his death, to let her know that he was fine, and was watching over her.

The Cleansing

Melissa cleansed the home using Holy Water from the Grotto at Lourdes, France, and a smudge containing white sage, Palo Santo wood, cedar and sweetgrass. We cleansed and rendered the chair in the office inert with the holy water, sea salt, smudge, and energy work. After the cleansing of the chair, the K2 and temperature alarm readings gathered repeatedly on the chair could no longer be duplicated.

Note: The following morning Mr. and Mrs. Brandon followed up with us to say that their home felt different and lighter, that the office felt great again and Brandon could work comfortably in the room again, and that they had both shared a “End of Poltergeist” moment that morning when they decided to roll the chair out onto the street and place a “Free” sign on it. Whoever picked up the chair should have no further problem with it, as we did cleanse it and render it inert.

Big Trouble In Stockton

The S.P.I.R.I.T. team was dispatched to a mansion in Stockton, CA. The homeowners, the third owners of the home, fled in the middle of the night, leaving many of their belongings and all of their furniture behind. The homeowners had called their realtor and demanded the house be placed on the market immediately, refusing to ever set foot in the house again. They arranged for a mover to come and collect their furniture and belongings in their absence within the week. The family wanted no publicity whatsoever, and did not wish to contact any paranormal teams for fear of any unwanted publicity.

The realtor contacted S.P.I.R.I.T. and asked for an emergency blessing of the home before they would in good conscience place the property on the market. The investigation was accepted on the condition of total anonymity for both the realtor and the homeowners. Any mention of specific locations, or identifying features or photographs has thus been withheld from this article.

The Investigation

On our preliminary walkthrough of the house, Melissa and Wendy both felt a dark oppressive force in the house, watching all of us. K2 and EDDI meters went off consistently in the kitchen, dining room, living room, and the closet in the bedroom at the end of one wing of the house. Large self-illuminated orbs that could be seen with the naked eye showed themselves several times during the investigation.

Spirit Box and EVP sessions yielded little evidence; however, we did catch one EVP in the bedroom at the end of the hall (to be discussed in context momentarily).

A thorough survey of the house and back yard by Jon and Brent revealed something very interesting about the location. As is very common in modern subdivisions, most houses in the neighborhood were variations on a basic design and layout. The mansion we investigated was in the middle of and part of such a subdivision, but shared none of the common layout features with other homes in the subdivision. The house had obviously been custom built to very exacting specifications. Revealing specifics of the house’s shape and design could hint at its location, but it is safe to say the overall design of the house revealed an inescapable conclusion that it was built using what is known as sacred geometry.

Sacred geometry is the manipulation of angles and lines to represent meaningful numbers, degrees, or equations in the underlying mathematics of a given design. This house incorporated such a design, causing S.P.I.R.I.T. investigators to strongly suspect a Satanic connection to the property.

In the bedroom at the end of the hall, Brent and Melissa set up a laser grid pointing into the walk-in closet.

At first, little evidence was gathered in this room, deploying the grid, K2 meters, and an SB 11 Spirit Box. Melissa left the room to talk with one of the realtors. During this time, something amazing happened. The entire laser grid began to pulsate in direct response to Brent’s questions. This was captured on video.

This should be impossible. Not only were fresh batteries installed in the grid emitter immediately prior to the experiment, but the laser grid is not designed to pulsate with strong and then waning power. Indeed, this investigation was the only time in 107 investigations that this investigator has ever seen a grid do this. If a laser grid’s batteries were dying, the light produced by the emitter would simply grow dimmer and dimmer like a flashlight with dying batteries – it would not and cannot pulse stronger and weaker when powered by ordinary alkaline batteries, because batteries supply what is known as DC or Direct Current.

However, it did. This constitutes the best paranormal footage incorporating a laser grid that S.P.I.R.I.T. members have ever witnessed.

Immediately following this event, we captured an EVP from the entity in this closet, further validating this extraordinary paranormal evidence. In response to the question “Who opened the portal?” the entity responds with a simple “Portal.”

This was the only time all evening the entity was willing to respond to us verbally.

The Cleansing

Due to the suspected nature of the case, the fact that the house itself was built to encourage and invite paranormal activity, and at the client’s request, a full house exorcism was performed. This rare type of cleansing requires an enormous amount of energy and personal risk of spiritual attack on the part of the investigators. The portal in the closet was closed and sealed with holy water from the Grotto at Lourdes, France, tar water, white sage and Palo Santo wood, and red brick dust, some of the most potent cleansing tools available to any paranormal team anywhere. During the cleansing, photographs came out dark and blurry, even with a flash.

The realtors thanked the S.P.I.R.I.T. team, and we packed up and left, exhausted and hoping for the best for this ill-fated house.

UPDATE:

As of the writing of this article, 09/30/2017 (just over one year after the investigation) all paranormal activity in the house has ceased. Although still actively trying to sell the house, the family has moved back in and is living there in peace. The family continues to request complete anonymity.

The Mammy Doll Mess in Mosquito

The road to Mosquito.

The S.P.I.R.I.T. team was called to the home “Carly” in Mosquito, California. The only way to get to Carly’s home is via Mosquito Road, a steep, extremely winding, treacherous (but paved) one lane road, winding up and at one point crossing the Upper American River Canyon northeast of Placerville, California. The bridge was built in 1867 and is slated to be replaced in 2020.

This was an “All Hands on Deck” investigation due to the unanimous consensus by the team in corresponding with Carly prior to the investigation that she had inadvertently acquired a cursed object. Attending this one was Melissa, Brent, Jon and Wendy,

Carly had unfortunately recently gone through a marital separation, and now living alone, had decided to purchase some used decorative items for her home – vases, pictures, Japanese art, and the like. Her sister collects unusual dolls, so when Carly found what was sold as an “unusual and adorable Mammy Doll” she knew she had to get it for her sister’s birthday.
The home already had some residual negative energy from her estranged husband’s girlfriend, who Carly said “gave her the creeps.” The sensitives in the S.P.I.R.I.T. group all felt that this woman had been in the home, and had very negative energy about her.
Upon receiving the Mammy Doll, whatever room the doll was kept in became so oppressive that Carly could not stand to be in that room.

Her dog “Snookers” lost his appetite, never played with his chew toys anymore, and was constantly reacting to something unseen in the home, standing on chairs and growling at the roof, and at times cowering under the table. Within days of receiving the doll, Carly’s charming mountain home was taken over by a dark oppressive feeling and dreariness. Carly herself said she had little energy and felt “wrong” in her own home. Three days after receiving the doll, she called the S.P.I.R.I.T. Paranormal Hotline for help. We scheduled her for our first available date, a week later, on April 1st.
Upon arrival the team was able to quickly zero in on the back upstairs bedroom, and the entire basement, but especially the back downstairs spare bedroom, as having the worst of the negative energy.

The downstairs back bedroom was the only room which set off the K2 meters – all the way to 5, but only sporadically around the room and especially on the bed, as if something were jumping on and off the bed.

This bedroom was the most active.

Team members kept feeling something small brush past their legs in the room. Upon discovery of two urns in the closet that contained the remains of Carly’s two Jack Russell Terriers, the group’s sensitives surmised that we had discovered that the terriers were still around, keeping Carly and Snookers company.
Before we commenced with a full cleansing and blessing of the home, Carly asked us to remove the cursed object from her property.

The shed of dread.

She had been keeping the doll wrapped in black plastic in a shed in the back yard since she first spoke with us. She had also heeded our advice to sage, holy water and salt the doll as well as the box it came in, and the bag she wrapped it in, to keep its energy contained until we got there. As the doll was removed from the shed, the negativity coming off of it was palpable to every member of the group. Most group members did not want to even see or touch it.

The Cursed Hoodoo Doll

Hoodoo is defined by the American Heritage Dictionary as a “Voodoo curse of African origin that uses an object to bring a person bad luck.”

While we know that Voodoo is a healing religious practice and has been a cherished belief system in its own culture, we realize its often mistaken counterpart Hoodoo is something else entirely, much more dark and dangerous. They are two distinct practices with two distinct sets of intent. The Hoodoo energy on this doll was quite real.
Upon removal of the doll from the property, a full cleansing of the home was performed using a white sage, Palo Santo, cedar and sweet grass smudge mixture, sandalwood incense was also used along with a white candle to bring in divine light; windows and doorways were salted and graveyard dirt was added due to the nature of the doll’s energy. We also used energy healing to infuse light into the home once again. We also gridded the property with specific crystals to prevent negative energy from returning. Carly was advised to continue smudging with white sage and pink Himalayan Salt to maintain the renewed positive energy in the home. By removing the cursed object from the property, the energy that had to be cleansed from the home was only residual, which is the easiest type of spectral or paranormal energy to clear from a space.
Carly’s “ghost dogs” will remain as they are positive and causing no harm.
By the time the S.P.I.R.I.T. members all arrived home at 11:30 p.m., we received a text from Carly that her home felt renewed and light again, and Snookers wanted and ate his dinner greedily, and was playing with his chew toys and acting like his old self.
The cursed Hoodoo doll will remain sealed in a blessed container.

A worried Elisa

The S.P.I.R.I.T. team was asked to assist Ryan Privee, a fellow paranormal investigator from Modesto, CA, with a negative entity case involving the apartment home of Elisa, in Stockton, CA. Elisa has been complaining of odd noises in the apartment, and a feeling of foreboding and negativity in the home.

The Investigation

A baseline K2 sweep showed unexplained EMF hits in the hallway and in the daughter’s bedroom. Ryan’s static electricity devices showed strong static hits in the master bedroom, along with orb captures with still photography.

In the daughter’s room, a defiant voice was captured on the SB11 Spirit Box, claiming to be “Satan” and “Evil.” When team members told the entity it would be cleaned out, the SB11 response was “try it.”

This type of entity is what we often refer to as a “Huffer and Puffer.” The entity puts on a strong, fearful front, in hopes of scaring the investigators away. When it comes to the actual cleansing, however, the entity proves to be relatively easy to cleanse out with S.P.I.R.I.T. members’ tried and tested methods and abilities.

The Cleansing

The home was cleansed using holy water, white sage, and Palo Santo Wood. The entity was banned from the apartment easily, proving itself to not be demonic in any way, as actual demonic cases are very dangerous and tough to deal with, and usually take more than one visit by team members. This entity simply tried to build itself up to be something it was not.

Melissa felt that the entity, a lost, angry, and defiant human soul, was seeking out demonic forces on the other side, and in time, could well have become a very negative and serious haunting in this apartment home. It is always best to “nip it in the bud” with such cases, before a more serious situation builds up.

Conclusion: Probable deceased human / previous tenant with dark intent but little power or energy, indication the spirit may not have been dead for very long.

Note:

The morning after this investigation, the client reported raw meat being draped on her car outside. This appears to have been an attack by neighbors in another apartment in the building who noticed the investigation taking place, and did not approve of their neighbor engaging in the paranormal in any way. However, the client has reported that all paranormal activity in her house has stopped.

The Old Prospector Ghost of Natomas

The S.P.I.R.I.T. team was dispatched the home of Crystal and Jeff in Natomas, CA. The couple has a young daughter and another child on the way. Their youngest daughter has been consistently reporting a black mist that crawls up her bedroom wall and watches her sleep. The couple themselves report feeling constantly watched in the home, unable to rest easily, and are constantly tired. Their daughter is terrified to sleep in her room alone and Crystal is very worried about the home’s possible paranormal activity affecting her new arrival.

The Investigation: 4:00 p.m.

S.P.I.R.I.T. team members Melissa, Wendy, and Brent arrive on scene for the daytime investigation. Since the client requested a focus on cleansing and less focus on investigation, little photography was taken during this investigation.

During the identification phase of the cleansing, sporadic K2 hits are detected throughout the home. In particular, the K2 equipment hits on the attic entrance and the entrance to the master bedroom’s walk-in closet. In the child’s bedroom, steady K2 kits at 10 mG (Milligauss) are measured on the wall where the child reported seeing the black mist climb up the wall; however these steady K2 hits are debunked as coming from the shelf stereo system and speakers on the other side of the wall.

Melissa says she senses two familial spirits that are trying to help, and an older bearded gentleman who look like he is dressed in the garb of a mid-19^th century gold prospector. In the mid-19^th century, the Natomas area was part of the greater American and Sacramento River floodplains. Melissa feels the prospector spirit has become entrenched on the property, staking his “claim” long before any housing developments were ever built there. The two familial spirits are trying to protect the family. All three investigators sense the prospector spirit. All three investigators also hone in on what they believe is an active portal in the master bedroom closet, where the K2 temperature alarm is registering cold spots 10 degrees cooler than in the bedroom (the closet door is always kept open) and EMF (electromagnetic field) hits of 20+ milligauss inside the closet.

Having identified the areas of the strongest EMFs, the group then conducted a full cleansing of the home, including the attic space, using white sage, Palo Santo wood, sea salt lines, red brick dust, and tar water.

In the weeks following the investigation, the clients reported that the house felt lighter, they were getting much more rest, and their daughter told them that the black mist was gone, and she had seen “Grandpa” and light energy in her room, but did not feel scared.

4 weeks after the investigation, the client contacted the S.P.I.R.I.T. team to say there had been knocking on the walls, windows, and roof from the outside, once again frightening their daughter. The difference was, that the disturbance was coming from outside the home.

S.P.I.R.I.T. members Jon, Brent, Melissa, Jon and Wendy returned to the home to perform a renewal cleansing, focusing more on the property and anchor / energy grid the entire property with the strategic placement of protective stones. Since the second visit property anchoring, all negative paranormal activity has ceased in the home, and only the protective and welcome familial spirits have remained.

Conclusion: Human spirit infestation intent on staying that had to be banished from the property altogether.

The Androgynous Ghost and the Protective Boyfriend

The S.P.I.R.I.T. team was dispatched to the apartment home of Shannon, in Roseville, CA. The home is near the railroad yards and a large local weekend farmer’s market known as Denio’s Farmer Market. This area is known to be haunted due to the numerous Chinese worker camps and “opium dens” that were scattered across this area in the mid to late 1800s during the gold rush.

Shannon says the apartment feels unsettled and negative for no reason, and she often feels watched. She says her daughter does not like to spend time at home.

The Investigation

S.P.I.R.I.T. team members Melissa, Brent, Kara, and Wendy arrived at the location at 7:00 p.m. Melissa and Wendy’s initial walkthrough zeroed in on the bathroom as having a “dark” or unsettled feeling to it. Melissa stated she felt this was a negative force that connected Shannon’s apartment with the upstairs apartment. She said the force was gender neutral – neither male nor female, but rather a possibly summoned androgynous energy. Melissa said she also picked up on a protective spirit of a recently deceased boyfriend or lover whose name started with an “S” who was coming through strongly to her. In tears, the client confirmed that her boyfriend Scott, who did not live with her and thus would not have turned up on any research of the apartment’s history, had just recently passed away from cancer. Scott told Melissa that he wanted Shannon to know that he was fine, happy, and watching over her. Melissa also states she feels a grandmotherly energy around Shannon.

K2 hits and unexplained temperature alarms on the K2 meter were consistently observed at the top of the shower in the bathroom. This indicated a strong but sporadic EMF field combined by a measurable cold spot, indicating the possible presence of paranormal activity.

Shannon explained that the upstairs neighbor, who had recently moved out (the upstairs apartment was vacant at the time of the investigation) had been experimenting with occult rituals. Although this could not be confirmed, the upstairs master bedroom would have been directly above Shannon’s bathroom.

No EVPs were captured in the apartment.

An SB11 Spirit Box Session was able to confirm Scott’s presence, with a response in his voice saying “Hi Babe” to Shannon. When asked if he was trying to protect Shannon from the energy in the bathroom and upstairs, we received the spirit box response in the same voice, “Yeah.” When asked how he likes the “other side” we received the Class A Spirit Box reply “It’s cool!”

Another SB11 hit said “Identity Theft.” Shannon immediately confirmed that just days before, her bank had called informing her that someone had tried to gain unauthorized access her bank account information.

Photography revealed a single orb (on the computer monitor – not present in subsequent photographs of the same shot) in the daughter’s bedroom, which was also confirmed to be Scott via the SB11 Spirit Box.

A light anomaly was also detected in one photograph, showing white lines surrounded by a mist that seemed to either be coming or going through the window in a break in the blinds. What makes the photograph interesting is that nothing else in the shot is blurred, and the anomaly extends in front of the blinds, suggesting the possibility that the photograph could be paranormal in nature, although it could not be repeated or confirmed. Also interesting is the fact that the photograph was taken just before Melissa commenced with the cleansing of the apartment. The photograph could not be confirmed as paranormal.

Two pets in the apartment were acting very agitated during the investigation – Shannon’s pet rat, which was constantly trying to climb its cage, and her cat, which kept repeatedly clawing at nothing but air. As Melissa commenced with the cleansing of the apartment, using white sage, Palo Santo wood, tar water, and cooperative energy sealing with team members Wendy and Brent, the animals both calmed down and went to sleep, ceasing the more agitated behavior.

At the end of the cleansing the group, Shannon, Shannon’s daughter (who came home during the cleansing) and apparently even the animals all seemed to agree that the apartment felt better, and lighter.

As of the writing of this article, Shannon has reported that there has been no further paranormal activity in the home, and the home feels peaceful. She does still feel Scott’s comforting presence.

Conclusion: Probable negative energy binding caused by unsafe paranormal practices by former neighbor. Also a “Casper” positive haunting by the deceased boyfriend. The negative energy was cleansed out, allowing the boyfriend’s spirit to stay.

The House Hopping Ghost of Old Reno

The S.P.I.R.I.T. team received an emergency e-mail from a family in the older section of Reno, Nevada, for an immediate investigation and cleansing, if at all possible. The e-mail came in late in the week, and after talking with the clients, the decision was made to go that Saturday.

Reno is 120 miles from S.P.I.R.I.T. home base. The weather forecast for the weekend over the Sierra Nevada was clearing (after a mid-week late season snow storm had moved over the mountains) and partly cloudy and snow flurries. The actual weather turned out to be a little closer to “Snowing hard on Donner Pass – Carry Chains.” We pressed on through the storm and reached Reno safely at 4 p.m. on Saturday evening.

Claims of Paranormal Activity:

The clients claim the mother is having headaches and nightmares, they feel constantly watched, there are unexplained noises at night, objects in the kitchen have moved by themselves, and some of the family members have been touched and pinched. One odd thing about this case was that the family claims that the activity is taking place not only in the mother’s upstairs apartment, but also in the daughter’s home nearby, and the activity had originally begun in the mother’s previous apartment across the street from her current apartment.

The Investigation:

S.P.I.R.I.T. members set about doing a base level K2 Meter sweep of the mother’s upstairs apartment, and discovered in her bedroom a clock radio that was pegging the K2 meter. This could explain the mother’s headaches and nightmares – it is strongly inadvisable to have strong electromagnetic fields near your head while you sleep (or at any time for any duration). However, this did not account for the other paranormal claims the family had been experiencing.

Photography in the home captured one orb in the kitchen:

While Melissa was taking video on her smart phone near the back bathroom of the upstairs apartment, an unexplained anomaly was captured on still photography. Note that that the image coming out of the phone cannot be a flash bounce or light reflection, because the anomaly extends past the edges of the phone into mid-air. If it was a light reflection or flash bounce, it would extend onto the wall in front of Melissa, and would cause glare in the mirror, neither of which is the case here. The anomaly is not a blur, because neither Melissa’s phone, hand, nor anything else in the photograph are blurred. The photograph appears to be paranormal in nature.

An SB11 Spirit Box session in the upstairs apartment produced multiple responses, and appeared to be a defiant male voice. When asked if he was ready to be “cleansed out of this space” we received strong Class A responses “By You?” and “My House.” The voice then told Melissa, “Try it, bitch.” These responses are well beyond what could be considered coincidence.

In conversing with the spirit via the SB11 Spirit Box, Melissa, Wendy, and Kara were able to empath the trapped spirit of a man who had been killed by police in front of an adjacent property approximately 10 years previously, during a standoff with police that arose from a domestic violence call. It was strongly felt by S.P.I.R.I.T. members that this spirit had recently attached itself to the family’s mother before she had moved into the current apartment, seeing her as an easy mark, and had been torturing the family ever since.

The Cleansing:

Full cleansing of both the upstairs apartment and the daughter’s nearby home were conducted, using sage, Holy Water and Palo Santo wood. The spirit of the man killed on the street by police was strongly encouraged to move on, with S.P.I.R.I.T. empaths Melissa, Wendy and Kara showing him the light that would allow him to cross over.

As of the date of this report, no further paranormal activity has been reported in either the mother’s or the daughter’s home.

A Familial Haunting

The S.P.I.R.I.T. team was called to an apartment home to assist an older couple who claimed they feel watched in the apartment, have heard disembodied voices, seen shadow movement, and had items fall suddenly out of their cupboards and linen closet.

An initial interview with the couple revealed that both occupants have lost loved ones unexpectedly. In particular, the woman had lost her brother in a foreign country in a violent incident when they were young. In the front office of the home were several pictures of her brother, arranged together on the wall.

The Investigation:

Flash photography captured several small, ambient-light only, and ambiguous orbs on the patio and throughout the apartment. However, the orbs are still interesting as circumstantial paranormal evidence, because the home was immaculately clean and free of dust.

No EVPs were captured in the home; however, the teams E.D. I. Meter’s (measures electromagnetic energy, temperature, and vibrations) blue EMF indicator lights lit up to full brightness (6 milligaus) during the EVP session, indicating the presence of a strong magnetic field.

Note that the E.D.I. Meter was on top of a computer printer that could cause a false EMF reading if switched on – however, the printer was switched off and the EMF hit on the E.D.I. meter could not be debunked by K2 meters.

Next, the team conducted a spirit box session in the front office using the SB 11 Spirit Box. Again, there was no response, but sporadic K2 hits. When the female occupant of the home spoke in Spanish during the spirit box session, she received a clear SB11 response in her brother’s voice, in Spanish, saying that he was all right. It was the first time she had heard her brother’s voice in 47 years.

At this point, the occupant understandably experienced a very emotional response, and the decision was made to shut off all recording equipment immediately and terminate the investigation, out of respect for the occupants and the family.

As there was no evidence of any negative energy, and the group members all felt strongly that the apartment contained only familial spirits who were watching over the occupants, no cleansing was requested or performed.

Of all of the cases the S.P.I.R.I.T. team encounters, familial hauntings that are beneficial and in no way negative make up the bulk of them. Most paranormal cases fall into this category, often termed “Casper” hauntings. Heavily negative and / or demonic cases do happen, and the S.P.I.R.I.T. team is equipped to deal with such cases, but one should keep in mind that those types of cases are the exception rather than the rule.

Conclusion: The SB11 hit in the brother’s voice in particular suggests that he is watching over his sister in her twilight years.

Persecution’s End

On Friday, May 13^th the S.P.I.R.I.T. team was dispatched to the apartment home of Mirabai in Sacramento. By the time Mirabai contacted S.P.I.R.I.T. she was at her wit’s end, having been physically assaulted, pursued, and harassed by a spirit or spirits since childhood.

Now in her sixties, and a sensitive herself, Mirabai seemed to be the focal point of the attacks, although many of her family members had fallen suddenly and unexpectedly ill in the last few years, as the attacks seemed to have intensified. The physical, violent assaults in the back master bedroom of Mirabai’s apartment home had become so unbearable in fact that Mirabai had not slept in the bedroom for over a year. A hostage in her own home, she was sleeping on the couch, finding excuses not to go home to her apartment at night, and living in fear.

The Interview

To get more background on what may have caused this level of activity, S.P.I.R.I.T. members interviewed Mirabai about her entire past — this is a level of personal history the team seldom finds to be necessary and in most circumstances would be uncomfortable with. However, in this case, Mirabai was very comfortable with it and she said she wanted to get her story out; indeed the family’s history turned out to be the key to the case.

Mirabai explained that she grew up in rural Michigan in the 1950s. Her family was at the time able to acquire a beautiful recently built two-story home to make into the family homestead. After they moved into that house was when the family first experienced paranormal activity. Often dismissed by her parents and other family members, Mirabai experienced physical oppression by an unseen force, being held down in her bed, kicked, and seeing the “scary man” in the upstairs hallway of the home. The longer the family lived in the home, the more the physical attacks escalated — experienced (and still usually dismissed) at times by other members of the household, but always seeming to focus upon Mirabai herself, as she was becoming more and more sensitive to the paranormal as time went on.

When Mirabai’s family finally left the state for California decades later, Mirabai felt a sense of both sadness and relief — sadness at leaving her hometown behind forever, and relief that her quietly endured paranormal nightmare was finally over.

Except that it wasn’t. The malevolent entity followed her and her family to California, and the attacks continued to escalate. Mirabai’s surviving family members were no longer able to dismiss the attacks, and indeed two of them ended up in the hospital with serious conditions. Mirabai tried to combat the force with her own gifts and research, but found herself ultimately oppressed by a force that had had her under its thumb since childhood.

In April of 2015, just over a year before the S.P.I.R.I.T. team was called in, Mirabai states that she was attacked in her sleep in the back bedroom, being awakened by a severe pressure in her skull and then being picked up out of bed and violently thrown across the room. She called 911, not knowing what was happening. First Responders found no evidence of a break-in, and nothing medically wrong with her aside from being visibly upset and shaken. It was after this incident that Mirabai refused to sleep in the back master bedroom anymore.

Mirabai conducted research into the history of her childhood home, and was astonished to find that the home had been built just after World War II by a man who had claimed at the time to be a German immigrant who fled Germany during the war. The man died in the home shortly before Mirabai’s family had moved in.

Although impossible to prove, Mirabai herself and three sensitives on the S.P.I.R.I.T team unanimously concurred: this was the man whose spirit had persecuted Mirabai’s family for decades — the restless and angry spirit of not just a German immigrant, but an officer of Germany’s Third Reich who had fled Germany after the war to escape prosecution for holocaust war crimes in the Nuremberg Trials. Such a spirit would arguably not have been at peace with a minority family moving in to the house that he built to escape discovery of his crimes against humanity.

However, S.P.I.R.I.T. members also felt that Mirabai also had several friendly or familial spirits around her, possibly trying to protect her from the negative entity. Mirabai confirmed that she often felt surrounded by what a relative of hers had described as her “minions” and recounted an incident in which the dark entity said to her in a dream, “my minions are stronger than your minions. You have nothing.”

Mirabai and the team members also picked up on the presence of the spirit of a kind but sad older gentleman who had died in the apartment building; indeed, a year before an old man had died downstairs and had not been discovered for two weeks. This spirit, however, could not be shown to be haunting Mirabai’s apartment specifically (apartment hauntings can often be subject to “transient spirits” form other areas of an apartment building).

The Investigation

S.P.I.R.I.T. team members felt a heavy, oppressive presence in the back master bedroom, and were able to capture anomalous orb photographs, one of which shows the orb in motion during an EVP (Electronic Voice Phenomenon) session. A “red orb” was also captured just after the EVP session. Colored orbs in motion like this taken indoors cannot be readily explained as dust or light refraction, and while not conclusive, must be considered as possible, even probable, spirit activity.

Multiple EVP’s were captured, as well as hits on the SB11 Spirit Box:

In response to the question “How many spirits are here?” the SB 11 Spirit Box responded with “12” two times in a row. This would seem to confirm the presence of multiple spirits around Mirabai, attempting to help and protect her. Indeed, one of the SB11 hits said, “Help her.” Orbs can be seen plainly flying in and out of the shot on video of the SB11 Spirit Box and EVP sessions conducted in the home that evening.

The Cleansing

The apartment was cleansed by the team with holy water, sage and Palo Santo wood, and the sealing of doors and windows with Himalayan salt and black tar water. During the cleansing, S.P.I.R.I.T. team member Brent George shouted in German at the “soldier spirit” or “Soldaten Geist” that he must leave the home forever. An orb was seen on video by Jon darting away from the group as Brent shouted at the spirit in German. Moments later, during this forced cleansing that seemed to connect with the negative entity in an unexpected way, the same orb was possibly caught on still flash photography being forcibly evicted from the apartment by the S.P.I.R.I.T. team:

This was a difficult and rare type of case for the team, as we were dealing with an evil but human spirit that was not interested in interacting or telling its story; it was interested only in hiding from the team and continuing its decades-old campaign of hate and violence against Mirabai and her family. The cleansing thus had to be particularly strong in this case, incorporating innovative cleansing techniques, such as the use of tar water and yelling at it in a way and in a language that would (and did) get its attention.

As of the writing of this article (August 2016) Mirabai has experienced no further negative paranormal activity in the apartment. Although understandably still unnerved and experiencing anxiety after a lifetime of persecution by a vicious and malevolent spirit, Mirabai has attempted to sleep in the back master bedroom a couple times, but still has a lot of recovery to do from this experience, but she is beginning to be able to reclaim peace in her life. As of this time, the negative spirit seems to have been removed from Mirabai’s life, and there have been no further attacks. Her protective spirits seem to be stronger around her now, and lifting her energy up.

Special Note: Because this case deals with an open missing persons case involving a minor, all names and locations in this article have been changed. It is the hope of the S.P.I.R.I.T. team that this very sad case might serve as a reminder to youth who are curious about the paranormal: Paranormal entities are very real – and dabbling in the paranormal and occult, particularly with Ouija Boards, without proper protection and experience in such matters is extremely dangerous, and can negatively impact the rest of your life.

The S.P.I.R.I.T. team was dispatched to a home in Sacramento. 16 year old Nancy was staying with her mother again after having run away from home. During her absence, Nancy had become involved in hard drugs, and had been recently successfully released from a detox facility before being placed in her mother’s custody. Nancy was allowed to leave the home only to go to school and back.

Nancy’s mother strongly feels that Nancy’s problems are paranormal in nature, describing Nancy as a “good kid with a bright future.” When the family moved into the neighborhood, Nancy‘s mother recounted, they were happy, despite a recent divorce between Nancy’s mother and father. Upon moving in, they couldn’t help but notice a strange spray pattern and drywall patch job in the garage.

They speculated that the strange patchwork on the wall and spray pattern indicated that a shooting had taken place in the garage. Although not disclosed by the landlord when Nancy’s family moved in, S.P.I.R.I.T. researcher Wendy Maxam did in fact uncover an incident on public record of an officer involved shooting in the garage that involved drug and gang activity over a year prior to Nancy’s family moving in. Indeed, the poorly patched wall still showed evidence of at least three patched bullet holes in the wall.

Nancy’s mother eventually dismissed it as nothing, making plans to have the wall repainted and forget about the whole thing. Nancy, however, became convinced that a shooting had taken place in the garage, and borrowed a friend’s Ouija Board to get some answers. Nancy used the Ouija Board in the garage more and more frequently, feeling that she had made “friends” with the departed victim of the shooting. (Note: Although S.P.I.R.I.T. recommends that one should never use a Ouija Board at all for any reason, using one alone is particularly dangerous and inadvisable: the user has no idea who or what he or she is talking to, and is the sole focus of the entity being contacted. Noted cases of demonic possession have begun exactly in this way.)

Nancy continued to use the Ouija Board for an uncertain amount of time. During this time, Nancy, once a straight A student at school, became increasingly withdrawn, locked herself in her room all night every night, rarely interacted with her mother at all, and began to skip school to lock herself in her bedroom. It was during this time that Nancy first began to experiment with drugs. During S.P.I.R.I.T.’s investigation, Nancy explained that the drugs were the only thing that made her feel free of a spiritual force that had taken over her life in a very short amount of time.

Nancy’s mother recounted one incident in which she heard her daughter screaming loudly in her bedroom with the door locked. She tried to force the door open, but couldn’t. As she walked away to look for something to force the door open with, the door unlocked and opened by itself. Upon entering her daughter’s bedroom, she found Nancy fast asleep, face down on the bed.

Shortly after this incident, Nancy ran away from home and was eventually picked up by police. She was returned to her mother through a relative where she was found. Nancy went through court-mandated detox therapy and was placed in her mother’s custody. Although Nancy was off the drugs, she continued to lock herself in her bedroom for hours on end, at times talking at length seemingly to herself, and at times “screaming into her pillow” (Nancy’s mother’s words). Nancy had been home for only two weeks when her mother, at her wits end, contacted the S.P.I.R.I.T. team for help.

THE INVESTIGATION:

S.P.I.R.I.T. members began the investigation in the garage. No EVPs were recorded, but an SB11 Spirit Box session in the garage produced a single male voice response: “I got shot.”

At first, Nancy was in her bedroom, and did not want to come out to meet the S.P.I.R.I.T. team. After coaxing by her mother, Nancy finally came out to meet the group and join in the investigation.

The master bedroom turned out to be the most revealing part of the investigation, which was surprising, since there were no claims of activity in that room (the mother’s bedroom).

The room showed multiple orbs on camera during our SB11 Spirit Box session in the Master Bedroom, and the EDI Meter showed an unexplainable 11 degree drop in temperature over the course of 20 minutes in the room, while the SB11 Spirit Box was in use. The home has new central heating and air, so this large and fast of a temperature drop with the door open and the thermostat on should have been impossible in a room full of people.

Two voices came through on the SB11 Spirit Box in the master bedroom – and older female voice and an aggressive male voice. The female voice indicated it was protecting the master bedroom with the response “to protect her” when asked what she wanted. The female voice then indicated by name that she was Nancy’s grandmother, who had passed away a few years earlier. The female entity seemed to be trying to protect her daughter from the forces the granddaughter (Nancy) had contacted using the Ouija Board. The temperature drop occurred while the female voice was speaking, indicating an energy drain. Several of the batteries in the team’s paranormal research devices also went dead during this time and had to be replaced.

In Nancy’s bedroom, the conversation then turned to the male voice on the SB11 Spirit Box. An orb was captured on camera flying directly out of the SB11 Spirit Box. When asked what it wanted, it simply kept replying, “Nancy.” When pressed for an answer by S.P.I.R.I.T. members, the male voice gave two vulgar replies that cannot be directly repeated or quoted here because of Nancy’s age. At the end of the SB 11 Spirit Box session, the decision was made to abort the investigation and cleanse the home with white sage and Palo Santo wood on the spot. A full cleansing of the home was immediately conducted.

One week after the S.P.I.R.I.T. investigation, Nancy ran away from home again. At S.P.I.R.I.T.’s last contact with the family, Nancy’s whereabouts remain unknown.

An incubus is defined as a male non-human entity that feeds off of human life force energy by engaging in sexual intercourse with its host. (The female version is called a succubus.) It accomplishes this by gaining the host’s trust and becoming progressively more friendly and intimate with its host. This type of entity prefers to gain the host’s consent, as this makes the connection between it and the host far more difficult to break than in a forced situation. Both types of attacks occur (forced and consensual) but the consensual cases are very very difficult to deal with. Even the strongest cleansing and house blessing is instantly undone if the occupant invites the entity back into the home of his or her own free will. Because these cases are of a very personal and embarrassing nature, consensual incubus cases are seldom reported, and nearly impossible to document. Although Nancy’s tragic story was not conclusively documented as a demonic or incubus case, it has all of the classic earmarks of a consensual incubus infestation.

Out With the Old, In With the New: A Haunted Warehouse in Elk Grove

The S.P.I.R.I.T. team was dispatched to a warehouse in the oldest section of Elk Grove, California. The new leasers of the warehouse space had begun extensive renovations to the office portions of the warehouse in order to set up their new business. As renovations progressed, employees began to complain of a feeling of being constantly watched, feeling an oppressive atmosphere, experiencing lights flickering, and hearing unexplained sounds.

This was a very large warehouse space with a full office addition inside of the warehouse, so flickering lights, sounds that cannot quite be placed, and dust orbs should all be expected in such a space, and not necessarily considered to be paranormal, unless there is corroborating evidence.

The Investigation

Flash photography was conducted throughout the warehouse space, as well as throughout the renovated offices. Not surprisingly, there were dust orbs in many of the warehouse shots. However, two orbs did stand out as possible paranormal anomalies, due to being brightly self-illuminated – the first of these was taken in a storage room where employees said they felt very uneasy.

Creepy room and photo anomolies

One anomaly was found in one of the warehouse photographs. The anomaly may be subject to a phenomenon known as “matrixing,” which refers to the human brain’s tendency to try to make order out of a jumbled or unclear image, and in particular to see faces or human forms. This natural tendency is something that must all be taken into account when taking photographs or video during any paranormal investigation. While ultimately inconclusive, the anomaly is nonetheless interesting.

Upon initial inspection, there does not appear to be anything out of the ordinary in this photograph of the office complex built into the interior walls of one end of the warehouse:

Look closely at the chair and monitor

Note the chair with the large monitor in front of it outside one of the office walls. Plastic wrap, packing supplies, and paper are stacked in the chair. Note that none of these materials are at all above the headrest of the chair. One of the yellow and grey columns is also reflected in the screen. There is nothing in the photograph that should be reflecting above the headrest of the chair, except for the yellow and grey column. However, closer inspection reveals what appears to be a vague and misty human figure (its back to the camera) sitting in the chair! Again, it should be noted here that this may well be nothing more than matrixing.

Ultimately, the photograph is subject to personal interpretation, and is not clear enough to be deemed conclusively paranormal. It is included in this article only as a curiosity.

The next phase of the investigation included an SB-11 Spirit Box session in one of the upstairs offices.

The group received several Class A spirit box responses, including the response of “Jim” four separate times in response to us asking if any spirits wanted to tell us their name.

The spirit box responded with “Seven” when asked how many spirits were present, and then followed up with a “Did you copy?” response.

When asked, “Do you want us to help you leave?” we heard the spirit box response “Yes!” When asked “Are you still with us?” we got the response “Working on it.” In closing the spirit box session, the final spirit box response said “Letty” (the client’s first name).

Taken together with the self-illuminated orbs and the anomaly with the chair, there does seem to be spirit activity taking place in the warehouse and in the warehouse offices.

This should perhaps not be surprising – the warehouse complex dates back to the Korean War when it was a military storage complex, and renovations often tend to stimulate previously dormant spirit activity. In this case, paranormal activity in the warehouse could not be confirmed beyond the spirit box responses, and therefore the nature or reason for any such activity could not be established.

The team conducted a full basic cleansing of both the warehouse and office spaces, which included saging, burning of a white candle, and sealing with holy water.

A later follow-up message from the clients stated that the activity had calmed down and employees no longer felt uneasy while working in the warehouse.

Conclusion: Inconclusive

The S.P.I.R.I.T. team was contacted by the paranormal group NCI (Non Corporeal Investigations) in Sacramento for a joint investigation in Placerville, California. The occupants of the country home in the foothills of the Sierra Nevada Mountains had contacted NCI with an emergency request for immediate help. The occupants claim was that the home had suddenly “exploded” in paranormal activity for no discernible reason. There had reportedly been no previous paranormal activity in the home.

Four members of the S.P.I.R.I.T. team and two members of NCI met at the driveway to the home in Coloma. This presented the first challenge – a S.P.I.R.I.T. member does in fact own a 4×4 vehicle, but sadly, we didn’t bring it on this occasion.

Well, live and learn. We parked the cars on the grass and walked up the hill, though for subsequent trips up and down the hill the homeowners graciously shuttled us in their 4×4 SUV.

The home in Coloma (just outside of Placerville) is located six miles from Sutter’s Mill, where gold was first discovered in California.

Upon making friends with two of the largest German Shepherds any of the team members had ever seen, the team interviewed the homeowners about the recent paranormal activity they had experienced. It turned out that the activity had begun shortly after the homeowners made a discovery on their land while clearing a portion of their property for an orchard they planned to start: the vertical opening to a long forgotten mine shaft / claim that had been filled in, sealed off, and grown over with dense vegetation for decades. The homeowner then decided to excavate the opening, breaking the seal of time and opening the mine. The same evening they did this, their home reportedly exploded in paranormal activity, including flickering lights, the dogs tracking unseen objects and never letting their guard down, unexplained knocks on the walls and footsteps on the wooden floors, and unexplained shadows in doorways. Because of the geographical location, and the vertical dig style to access what once was undoubtedly a vein of gold on the hilltop, matching the “claim style” of dig that was common at the time, it is extremely likely that the homeowners had uncovered a forgotten and more than likely mined out small claim shaft dating back to the beginning of California’s Gold Rush, which began with the discovery of gold at Sutter’s Mill on January 24^th, 1848.

The Investigation:

Team members set about documenting an abnormal number of bright orbs in the home (the home was not at all dusty). Of particular note, notice how the dogs appear to be looking at the orbs and even guarding against them as the orbs attempt to and do enter the home from outside. This makes a strong case that these orbs, captured in flash photography, are not mere dust: the dogs are seeing and reacting to them.

The team was also able to verify the phenomenon of shadows crossing doorways with two pictures taken within seconds of each other, both taken with a flash:

Next, the team conducted a Spirit Box session with the SB 11 Spirit Box.

When asked who they were and why they were in the home, we got the clear reply, “Miners.”

When asked if they knew what year it was the SB11 said “2005.” (There was an old calendar from 2005 hanging on the wall in the room where the session took place.)

When asked if they knew what all of the devices we were using were (K2 meters, digital recorders, MEL Meter) we got the clear reply “Science.”

These SB11 Spirit Box hits do, in the opinion of the S.P.I.R.I.T. team, go well beyond coincidence and make a reasonable case for intelligent spirit communication.

The team then conducted an EVP session. We ask how many spirits were there with us and we receive a Class A EVP “2-4.” This is significant for two reasons: First, it substantiates the level of paranormal activity that was seen elsewhere in the investigation, as well as the level of activity claimed by the homeowners, validating their experiences. Second, in the 1800s, it was a common practice for mine workers and other blue collar workers to say each digit separately and clearly for numbers with more than two digits – this was often to be heard over the noise of machinery. This practice is still common in some vocations even today.

The Cleansing:

The team saged the house and advised the spirits in the home that they could move on. The occupants were instructed on re-saging the house, and encouraging the spirits to move on. The homeowners were also advised to plant a fruit tree at the mine entrance (they resealed the mine for safety purposes) in memoriam of the miners who apparently lost their lives in the mine over 150 years ago.

Conclusion:

Given the fact that the homeowners had never experienced any paranormal activity before, and were suddenly inundated with paranormal activity inside and outside of their home upon opening the mine, and given the fact that NCI and S.P.I.R.I.T. were able to verify much of the activity being claimed, we feel that there is a strong case to be made here that sometime shortly after the beginning of the California Gold Rush in the mid-1800s, a group of 24 miners lost their lives in a small claim and were never heard from again. Given that many gold diggers in the Gold Rush were from other parts of the country, and the site is only 6 miles from Sutter’s Mill, this is a completely plausible scenario, given the evidence. Indeed, small mining teams routinely consisted of between 22 to 33 miners, depending on the size of the strike, during the California Gold Rush, according to Wikipedia.com.

The homeowners followed the team’s advice, saging the home regularly and planting a fruit tree at the mine site, remembering the miners at long last.

No further paranormal activity has been reported in the home.

The Guardians, Family, and a Drinking Buddy in Granite Bay

The S. P. I. R. I. T. team was called to the country home of Gil and Denise in Granite Bay, California.
The clients say that objects have moved by themselves in the home, their two dogs often track something or someone invisible moving across the room, pennies are often found in a trail on the hardwood floor, and loud unexplained noises are often heard in the living room in the middle of the night. Full body apparitions of two men in top hats as well as a man in a flat longshoreman’s hat have been reported in the hallway connecting the living room and the master bedroom. It is worth noting that Gil’s former spouse passed away several years ago in the master bedroom.  The house has east and west wings extending off of either side of the main living room and kitchen areas. The master bedroom and office are in the west wing, while the east wing houses a meditation / quiet room. Most of the reported paranormal activity in the home has been in the living room / kitchen area, the west wing, and the hallway connecting the two. The master bathroom has two large mirrors directly facing each other creating an “infinite hallway” optical illusion. Many paranormal researchers believe that having two mirrors facing each other in such a fashion can be used by spirits to create an entry portal into the home from the other side.

THE INVESTIGATION 

The investigation began in the master bathroom. Investigators taking baseline K-11 and MEL-Meter readings were surprised when the devices spiked sporadically in front of the mirrors where the “infinite hallway” effect in the mirrors was the most observable. No electronic devices were found on the bathroom counter that could explain the K-11 spikes. Moreover, the spikes responded to investigators’ questions, lighting up when investigators asked if there were spirits present, and if they knew that they were dead. The temperature fluctuated during the EMF spikes from 65 degrees to 73 degrees, even though the home has central heating.  After documenting the master bedroom / master bathroom EMF spikes, photography was taken in the west wing that showed two orbs in the master bedroom, and a large unexplained purple mist captured at the entrance to the west wing hallway from the kitchen. The mist does not appear to be caused by light refraction, has no identifiable source, and is not in a photograph of the hallway taken from the same position and angle one second later. The photograph of the purple mist, in conjunction with a related SB-11 Spirit Box hit later in the evening, is being classified as paranormal in nature.

The second investigative round revolved around the use of the dual channel SB-11 Spirit Box in the master bedroom and office. Multiple SB-11 hits showed probable intelligent spirit communication by multiple spirits – Gil’s former spouse, and a dear friend who Gil described as a “drinking buddy” who has passed, both identified themselves by their own names and said “Hi!” to Gil. Denise’s father also came through via K-11 communication and SB-11 hits. The SB-11 also picked up communication by two other entities who identified themselves as “The Guardians.” When asked if they were the source of the purple haze we photographed, and the men in the top hats that Gil and Denise have both seen in the west wing hallway, the SB-11 replied, “Yeah – it’s us.”

Outside, a large self-illuminated orb was captured in motion over the pool, but not enough information was gathered to connect this orb to any one spirit in the home.

With repeated spirit box confirmation that the paranormal activity in the home is being caused by spirits of deceased family members, an old drinking buddy, and guardians attached to the land itself from long ago, no cleansing was needed or requested — the spirits are there to protect and watch over this country home. With recognition and acceptance of the spirits’ presence and the reason for their presence, it is likely that the “attention getting” paranormal activity in the home will now diminish in both frequency and intensity, and settle into more of a background familial haunting.

The Apartment Stuck Between Worlds

(Note: This article is written in the first person, because the home being investigated for this article was the author’s home)

S.P.I.R.I.T. team members gathered at my apartment home in the La Riviera Dr. neighborhood of Sacramento to investigate and communicate what I have classified as an active “Casper haunting.” By the end of the evening, there was no debate that the apartment is very haunted. A ‘Casper haunting” is different from a familial haunting. A Casper haunting may have little to do with any family members, but the spirits are considered friendly to the home’s occupant or occupants, often even helpful. My home is haunted by six spirits: three children, my great uncle, a female entity attached to the land, and a male entity attached to me who I think of as a “spirit guide.”
The initial investigation of my home took place on April 7, 2013. That was when I found out that I was being haunted not only by my great uncle, but by two other adults and three children. Therefore, this was both an investigation and a simple spirit communication, since most of the information presented in this article is information I had already put together, since that original investigation.
I grew up in a country home in Northern Wyoming in the 1970s. The house was terribly haunted by a dark, sinister force, and many spirits controlled by that dark force, an experience that has led to my lifelong pursuit of the paranormal. Above the downstairs fireplace in that home hung a picture – a picturesque mountain scene done on canvas. I always found that picture quite calming. It turns out that the spirits of three children who may have been brutally murdered in that Wyoming ranch home in the 1960s had attached themselves to that picture and ended up going wherever the picture went – truly a “haunted painting.”
That picture now hangs above my bar in my Sacramento apartment, and as such the three children who watched me grow up now haunt my apartment and have become attached to me. I have no real idea why my great uncle is hanging out, other than the fact that he always really liked me as a kid. The other two spirits in the apartment are more vague in a way – the adult female spirit I know very little about, and the male is a “spirit guide” type of spirit that I picked up back in 1996 when I went through a phase in which I was very interested in Native American culture. This male spirit has always proven to be helpful and protective.

The Haunted Painting

INVESTIGATION
The evening began by taking baseline K-11 meter readings, and then placing a K-11 meter with the temperature alarm and the MEL Meter on a chair in the hall between the bathroom and the master bedroom. When Kara approached the chair the temperature alarm went off to three levels – indicating an instant 15 degree drop in temperate at the device. Kara then felt a small child “hugging her legs.” Feeling disembodied human hands on you is a regular occurrence in the apartment. The K-11 meter / temperature alarm was then used to communicate with the spirit of the child and actually play a guessing game (which hand or pocket is the nickel in?) with the spirit. This was captured on camera. During this time, multiple self-illuminated orbs can be plainly seen in the video clips darting back and forth, going into investigators, and even making right angle turns.
In the master bedroom, Shawnda and Jason captured more bright, self-illuminated orbs entering and exiting the bedroom, making right angle turns into the living room.
EVP’s were inconclusive, but an SB-11 Spirit Box session resulted in ongoing interaction between the group and the three children spirits, who clearly identified themselves as Peter, Emily, and Boyd. This confirmed information empathed earlier by Melissa that these were in fact these childrens’ names, and that they had used the painting to escape the dark forces in the house that I grew up in, the same house in which they were murdered. When prompted, the children clearly spoke out their own names on the SB11 Spirit Box. They identify with Brent and Melissa as parental figures.

Conclusion:
Based upon the evidence gathered during this investigation, on the ongoing high level of Casper-like activity in my apartment home, and upon previous research I have done into the history of my childhood home, the S.P.I.R.I.T. team decided to reach out to the current owners of the Wyoming home and offer a full-scale professional investigation of the entire area. Sadly, they were not interesting in bringing up the past.

The Stubborn Ghost of Rancho Murrieta

The S.P.I.R.I.T. team members Melissa, Jon, Wendy, and Brent were dispatched to the home of “Leigh” in Rancho Murieta, CA. Leigh lives in a private gated community; the homes there were built in the 1990s. Leigh is the second owner of the home.
Leigh has complained of noises and footsteps at night, and a recurring nightmare where she feels she has forgotten something important, and now everyone is going to die because of her mistake. She wakes up in a cold sweat almost every night from the nightmare, and is getting very little sleep. She feels constantly watched.
Leigh is married with two children, ages 16 and 10. Her husband and 16 year old son say they have not noticed any paranormal activity in the home, but the 10 year old daughter says there is a woman who watches her while she sleeps, hovering over or her, occasionally retreating to the closet. Leigh has decided to have her husband and children out of the house during the investigation.

The Investigation
The S.P.I.R.I.T. team arrived at 7 p.m. Two orb shots were captured in the living room, and sporadic K-11 hits that cannot be easily explained were detected throughout the house and in the garage. A self-illuminated orb was captured in the attic above the children’s bedrooms. Melissa felt that the activity in the house centered mainly on the Master bedroom. She detects the spirit of an old man who was attached to the property before the gated community was ever built, and the spirit of a young woman who, in Melissa’s words, seems “trapped.”
Through two EVP sessions, no EVPs are captured. The team then deploys the SB11 Spirit Box, and begins to receive responses almost immediately. A Class A spirit box response in a female voice says “Help me!” Melissa asks if she needs help finding the light. A second response in the same voice says, “He won’t let me go.” This seems to validate Melissa’s impression of a female spirit who feels trapped.
The team is then able to get the male spirit to respond on the SB-11, in a deep, clear voice – a Class A response states his name is “Richard.” When asked what he wants with the female spirit, we receive the response, “Mine.”
The team explains to the male spirit that neither the house nor the woman are “his” and he needs to move on. Melissa is able to guide the female spirit to move to the light as she talks to and distracts the male spirit. The entire group feels the female spirit cross over. A final SB-11 hit from the woman simply says “See ya!.”
The team turns their attention back to the male spirit. He is encouraged to cross over as well. The SB-11 hit “Bad” is heard. I explain to him that when he crosses over, he will learn lessons and go to a kind of school to learn from his mistakes, but he will not necessarily go to Hell, as long as he wants to move forward and is sorry. The SB-11 Spirit Box returns the chilling Class A response, “Preacher.” I assure him I am not a preacher.
In the end, we were not able to cross the male spirit over, and a full cleansing of the house had to be performed, using Holy Water, red brick dust, and tar water, and anchoring stones.
Over the next week, Leigh states that the house feels lighter, and the nightmares have stopped. Leigh’s daughter tells her mother without any prompting that the woman who watches her sleep is gone.
The cleansing appears to hold for four months. As of the writing of this article, Leigh’s nightmares have returned, and the S.P.I.R.I.T. team is scheduled to conduct a re-cleansing of the home.
Further research uncovered that the former owner of the home was a police officer who had been involved in an officer-involved shooting and subsequently retired.
It is unclear why the cleansing didn’t “stick” in this case, but it serves as a reminder that there are no guarantees when dealing with the paranormal. The stubborn male entity may have found a way back into the home the team hadn’t thought of, possibly by lingering on the property waiting for any excuse “back in” – the re-cleansing of the home and full property cleansing will include a stone (creates a protective energy grid) re-anchoring of the entire property.
It is the policy of the S.P.I.R.I.T. team to always return to a client location if requested, if unwanted paranormal activity should continue. Stubborn or negative spirits occasionally wait around for excuses or informal invitations to come back. While it is not common, we are prepared to remind them they have to leave completely and move on. Staying around the Earth plane harassing the living is never acceptable.

Conclusion: Probable Human Spirit Infestation Intent on Staying. Case remains open as activity continues, and a second cleansing is scheduled.
